Windsor and Eton Riverside Walk
Meet at 8.50 at Staines Railway Station for rail transfer to Windsor. Train leaves at 9.07. A flat river walk via Eton Jubilee River and Maidenhead returning via Thames Path. Picnic, pub, cafe lunch in Maidenhead.
Meet at 10.15 at Westcott Village Green (OS Expl. 146 TQ141486) for a circular walk via Abinger Roughs,Townhurst Wood, Abinger Common. Pub stop at Abinger Common.
Take the rough with the smooth
Meet 10.15 at Abinger Roughs free car park in the Surrey Hills (TQ111480, nearest post code RH5 6BF) for a circular walk through Westcott, Logmore Green, Abinger Common, Paddington Farm and Broomy Downs. Picnic/pub lunch at Abinger Common. Access the car park, on White Down Lane, off the A25 between Abinger Hammer and Westcott. Any 'Road Closed' sign at the entrance to White Down Lane does not prevent car park access from the south (A25). Access to the car park from the north may not be possible.
John C is indisposed and unable to lead the walk. So Ray B is the contact and the replacement leader is to be announced on the day. We will be using John's map and notes.
Autumn Colours in the Great Park
Meet 9.30 Wick Rd Lay-by C.P. (Post Code TW20 0HN Landranger 175/985700). Lunch - Savill Garden cafe/Picnic/Pub. Anyone is welcome to do the morning walk (only 5miles & not far back to C.P.). The afternoon 5 miles will be on the other side of the Park. The morning walk is part of our 'Saturday Short Walks' programme.
Walk from Witley
Meet at 9.00 a.m. at Staines Railway Station for car transfer to Church Lane, Witley (opp. White Hart on A283) – small parking area on right just beyond church and school. (Explorer 133 / 946396 / nearest post code GU8 5PN). An elongated circular walk, partly along Greensand Way, with some hills and passing through villages of Bowlhead Green, Brook, Sandhills and Wormley. Bring refreshments for mid-morning stop. Picnic or pub lunch at The Dog and Pheasant, Brook.
To the Top of Surrey
Meet 09:00 at Staines Leisure Centre for a car transfer to Friday Street (Landranger 187 – map ref 126457 nearest postcode RH5 6JR). Join us for a scenic moderately hilly circular walk via Leith Hill and Coldharbour. Pub and/or picnic lunch at the Abinger Hatch pub.
Short Walk: Both Sides Now
Meet the leader at 10:30 at Weybridge on the Thames towpath next to the pedestrian ferry. A 5-mile circular walk on both sides of the River Thames via Wey Navigation Chertsey Meads Chertsey Bridge Dumsey Meadow and Shepperton Lock returning to Weybridge on the ferry (£2.00 single fare) which is where the walk ends. Optional pub lunch at the Old Crown Weybridge at the end of the walk. If you park at Walton Bridge car park allow for an extra mile each way for the walk along the towpath.
Stokenchurch to Christmas Common Walk
Meet 9.00 at Staines station for a car transfer to the King's Hotel Stokenchurch HP14 3TA. The walk starts at 9.45 (note time). A circular walk via Wellground and Vicar's farms. Dinner stop at the Fox and Hounds Christmas Common. Return via Ibstone Common and Penley Wood. Some nice views along the way.
